[The first thing that appears in the journal is a big, thick ink smudge, sort of like it's been fingerpainted by large, clumsy hands -- because it has.]

[A few moments later, when it becomes clear it just isn't going to happen, Van speaks. His voice is a rough, dry croak. Either he hasn't spoken in weeks... or he's overused it to the point of ruin.]
Tear. ...Tear.
[A bit later still, when he realizes he's drifting off and he does not want to pass out--]
What day is it? [Not that the answer will mean anything to him, thrice-damned nonsense calendar.]
(OOC: Reluctant first aid reserved for Tear, but feel free to answer him. He'll talk, he just won't accept help from anyone else.)

[Someone like Tear, Asch, or Jade most probably does. Keeping tabs on Van like a spy is something Nephry knows it would be silly for her to do.]
...You're looking for Tear. Did she answer you?
[voice]
I don't see why it concerns you.
[They're still enemies, correct? They certainly aren't friends. Even if Tear ignores him and he dies out in the snow, why should it matter to her? Most people would consider that lucky, wouldn't they?]
[voice]
If she's here, and hasn't seen your message, I'll tell her about it. ...You offered peace, General, at least of one sort. Ignoring you now wouldn't be very...helpful.
[voice]
She's answered me. [And then he realizes he might have just learned something from this conversation.] ...Do you live with her?
[He supposes she could be at the library or something similar, but... she'd have to be at the library quite a bit, for someone to assume she'd probably be there... Then again, Tear...]
[voice]
...Well. If she lies, that would go against the thing she just said. So.]
Yes, I do.
[voice]
Good. She shouldn't live alone. [He almost sounds like a loving brother.]
[voice]
Van still isn't her favorite person in the world. ...But it would feel so very wrong to take some sort of part in his freezing to death, or similar.]
Try not to fall asleep in the cold.
[voice]
Her statement is both amusing and confusing to him. Certainly the others would care little if he did manage to freeze to death. Dist might throw a party.]
Could your conscience not bear it?
[voice]
...Dist is...unique. Things he parties over aren't always normal.]
I don't believe in letting injury or death happen when it can be avoided. [That happens to include everyone. Even some of her criminal best friends.]
[voice]
Is that how you truly feel?
[voice]
Sometimes she forgets they all know who she's related to.]
Of course. Lying isn't high on my list either.

[She sounds...worried-amused.]
