Still, there was some concern. He sets up a directional filter, sending a quick message and hoping the other hears it.]
Van?
[voice - January 23rd]
Is it the ligers again? [He's not dazed and confused anymore, honest. Just dreaming of home.]
[voice - January 23rd]
He notices the dazed tone, wondering if the other man was ill. But no, it sounded more like he had been sleeping. Though that still didn't rule out 'sick', he decided to assume 'just sleeping' until proven otherwise.]
I just wanted to check on you.
[voice - January 23rd]
Freyjadour? Yes, I'm- [...
...
...
'...going to fix my hair now.']
[voice - January 23rd]
He knew a thing or two about uncooperative hair, so he couldn't really fault Van for it. Freyjadour's would probably be just as bad once he grew it out again.]
Awake?
[voice - January 23rd]
Quite. Did you need something?
[voice - January 23rd]
[How about that bloodloss, Van.]
[voice - January 23rd]
He reappears a few moments later, looking much more composed, thank you very much. What a difference a little brushing can make. Still a touch pale and a little drawn, though. It'll be a while before he puts that weight back on.]
Yes, thank you; but I'm not going to be taken down by something like that.
[Now where did that hairtie go...? He should really learn to take it out before he sleeps, instead of while he's sleeping...]
[voice - January 23rd]
I'm glad. I didn't assume it would, but it's always comforting to know that a friend is doing well. The Malnosso scientists have a habit of being... quite brutal.
[voice - January 23rd]
...Except then he finds his hair tie and the moment passes. He's silent a moment more; wrangling all that hair into such a tight ponytail takes concentration.]
I can't say I found the experience pleasant; but what option is there other than to recover?
[voice - January 23rd]
I had wanted to come see you in person, actually, but I do not know where you live. [Though then he would have possibly been fussing over Van many times over, so maybe that is a blessing in disguise for the other man.]
[voice - January 23rd]
Community housing 2, apartment 9. [...] There's really no need to check on me, though. I'm quite alright.
[voice - January 23rd]
....If you want, I can bring you something to eat, later. I still owe you a favor for the draft, after all.
[voice - January 23rd]
That's not necessary. Not that you'll listen to me, will you?
[voice - January 23rd]
Really, though, he just wanted to make sure the Van was truly ok.] I know it's not. I want to, though.
[voice - January 23rd]
[He doesn't need to bring food. Van is perfectly capable of feeding himself. It's not like he can stop him, though.
...And maybe it would be nice. A little.]
[voice - January 23rd]
[Come on, he's pretty good at cooking now. Almost two years of ongoing, determined practice helps, too. Kind of required work if you're used to a variety of food but can't cook.]
[voice - January 23rd]
[Yes, this is a subtle reassurance that he has been at home, resting. ...If catching him asleep was somehow not enough for that.]

Eventually, though, there will be a knock at Van's door when Freyjadour arrives with a bag carried in his arms- a covered pot and some fresh bakery bakery he had picked up that morning tucked inside.]
[action - January 23rd]
He steps back to let Frey into a room that is... surprisingly cozy and homely actually, though still decidedly masculine. Warm tan walls, the far one almost completely covered by (mostly empty) shelves, a light wood floor with an enormous dark thick rug over it, and worn wood and leather furniture, with extra pillows and a comfortable throw draped over the back. There are, in fact, very few spots in the room that look like they wouldn't be a good place for a nap.]
I told you there was no need to bring anything. [But he sounds like he knew very well that Frey would do it anyway.]
[action - January 23rd]
Upon stepping in, he is impressed by the decorating taste- it seemed like a space designed for relaxation, which is something he imagines Van needs with how he looks right now.] I know. I still wanted to, though.
[he wanted to ask if Van had been eating right since his return, but he was afraid that could be equated to 'you look like hell- eat something'.]
