[Sure it is Van. Really, he's figuring there is a concussion involved with Van's injuries, perhaps.

So he'll keep talking because he knows you can't let someone with an addled head fall asleep. Besides, he didn't know how badly Van was injured, so it was better to play it safe.]

I think everyone would prefer that. Sadly, the Malnosso are not exactly open to such negotiations.
